Penn State Greater Allegheny's Teaching International program will present a Celtic Dance Workshop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 30, in the Ostermayer room of the Student Community Center.
The Penn State Greater Allegheny Women's Volleyball Team is hosting a coed volleyball tournament to raise funds to benefit breast cancer awareness. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Wunderley Gymnasium, 4000 University Drive.
The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) announced that Penn State Greater Allegheny and Robert Morris University in Springfield, Ill., have been selected to host the 2012 through 2015 USCAA Baseball Small College World Series. Robert Morris has been selected as the host for 2012 and 2014 at Chamberlain Park. Penn State Greater Allegheny will host in 2013 and 2015 at Pullman Park in Butler, Pa. The 2012 Small College World Series will be held May 7-12.
High school seniors who are considering a Penn State education can try it out for a day. Students will arrive at about 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, and begin their day by pairing-up with a Penn State Allegheny Lion Ambassador to sit in on a class or two. Afterward, they will participate in a walking tour of the campus. The day winds down with lunch in the campus cafeteria, the Cafe Metro. For more information, call 412-675-9010.
Lion Ambassadors to host the Merit Badge University, along with Troop 338 of the Laurel Highlands Council on Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. The purpose of the event is to provide Boy Scouts of America an opportunity to earn merit badges.
According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in our country needs a blood transfusion. To assist the American Red Cross, faculty, staff and students at Greater Allegheny can donate blood from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Student Community Center in the Ostermayer Room on campus.
Linda Patterson Miller, Penn State Laureate for 2011-12, will be a guest at Penn State Greater Allegheny on Wednesday Sept. 28. Drawing upon her research and writing on American literature and art, particularly of the 20th century, Miller incorporates vintage photographs and primary documents to explore a range of topics.
