Athletic Open House available to prospective students

Prospective students and their families are invited to attend the Athletic Open House at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. The Open House will begin with an optional tour at 9 a.m. Dec. 8 in the Community Center. The program will begin at 10 a.m.

'Think 2 Year, Think Penn State' to take place Nov. 13

Prospective students and their families are invited to attend "Think 2 Year Degree, Think Penn State Fayette" at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. This Open House will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the Cultural Center of the Williams Building.

Penn State President Graham Spanier joined the leaders of Pennsylvania's three other state-related universities in Harrisburg Tuesday (Feb. 23) to answer questions from legislators and ask the lawmakers to invest more fully in higher education.

Penn State's solar home opens for public tours

Welcome to the home of the future. It's called the MorningStar, and it gets all of its power from the sun. The MorningStar is now located in front of the Centre County Visitor's Center, where it will serve Penn State in two ways: as a laboratory to develop a better understanding of the best technologies and systems for the Pennsylvania climate; and as a center for green outreach, where students can receive training to give public tours and raise awareness about energy-efficient building and living. This weekend the MorningStar officially opens its doors to the public, with guided tours available from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18. The home will then be open for drop-in tours from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Violations of national policies force fraternity to close

The December 2007 closing of a Penn State fraternity by its national headquarters for repeated violations of policies requires ex-Phi Delta Theta members to vacate their former fraternity house at the corner of Pollock and Burrowes Roads on the University Park campus. According to the deed for the property, the house may only be used as a chapter or fraternity house for Phi Delta Theta, and if not, the house must be sold.
