Schafer receives Big Ten laurel

ROSEMONT, Ill. — Following a three-goal weekend against Michigan and Michigan State, senior forward Megan Schafer has been named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Schafer and Minnesota's Sydney Squires shared the award. This is the first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award for Schafer.

Schafer and the Nittany Lions are coming off a pair of victories at home against Michigan and Michigan State this past weekend. In Penn State’s 2-0 victory against Michigan, Schafer netted her third goal of the season to put the Nittany Lions up 2-0 in the 76th minute.

Penn State then closed out the weekend with a 4-0 victory over the Michigan State Spartans. Against the Spartans, Schafer scored two goals on two shot attempts.

Between the two matches against Michigan and Michigan State, Schafer scored three goals on four shot attempts.

All-time at Penn State, Schafer now ranks 16th in points (77) and is tied for 15th in goals scored (30).
