Lecture to focus on alternative approaches to curbing violence

“Cure Violence in Harrisburg Pennsylvania” will be presented by Dr. John F. Reuwer, attending physician, Concentra Urgent Care Center in Harrisburg, at noon Thursday, Feb. 11, in the Anesthesia Conference Room (C2860) on the Penn State Hershey campus.

As an emergency room physician, Reuwer has seen the outcomes of violence all too often. He began training on nonviolent action and learned about the work of Dr. Gary Slutkin, a medical doctor who proposes an epidemiological model of curbing violence. Reuwer will talk about his experiences with implementing Cure Violence in Harrisburg, including the Twelve Days of Peace.

This event is free and open to the public. No pre-registration required. For more information email cdellasega@hmc.psu.edu or call the Department of Humanities at 717-531-8778.
