Internal search opens for associate dean for research and innovation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The College of Engineering is conducting an internal search for an associate dean for research and innovation.

The associate dean is primarily responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of the college’s research and innovation strategy. Responsibilities include strategic planning; major research program development; faculty development; research administration; technology transfer, entrepreneurship and intellectual property management; research coordination at the campus, University, national and international levels; industrial relations; and oversight of major college research institutes and centers.

Candidates are sought who have demonstrated experience in developing and sustaining a vibrant research program; excellent organizational and managerial skills; an ability to work across the college and University to build critical partnerships; an understanding of the major research sponsoring organizations; an understanding of research administration policies and processes; and familiarity with technology transfer, intellectual property and export control issues.

The associate dean is a member of the dean’s leadership team and will work collaboratively with the dean, associate deans, heads of the college’s departments and schools, the Office of the Vice President for Research, the dean of the Graduate School, the vice provost for Global Programs, the directors of University research institutes, the Office of Technology Management, the Office of Sponsored Programs and the leadership of the other colleges to advance the College of Engineering’s research and innovation priorities.
