Global Programs seeking students to serve as International Orientation Leaders

Itching to give back to new students? Interested in working in a global environment? The International Student Orientation is a key opportunity to welcome students from around the world to our campus.

The University Office of Global Programs is now accepting applications for a team of caring and energetic students to serve as International Orientation Leaders for the summer and fall orientations at University Park. The deadline is April 7.

A select team of leaders will be hired, trained and expected back to University Park two days before the start of orientation. Summer orientation runs June 27 to July 1, and fall orientation runs Aug. 11 to Aug. 19 for graduate students and Aug. 15 to Aug. 22 for undergraduate students. Global Programs is looking for the most energetic group, regardless of nationality or international experience.

Dora Fraga, a past orientation leader, said her time with Global Programs was a great learning experience. “I improved my decision making skills as an OL. I had to make quick decisions and think on my feet to help the new students get the answers they needed," Fraga said.

Leaders are in charge of their own group of students throughout orientation.
