Libraries offers free article delivery service to undergraduates

The Libraries’ free article delivery service is now available to undergraduate students. This service provides students with electronic copies of articles from Penn State’s print journal collections at no charge. The popular service, which has been available to faculty, staff and graduate students for several years, has proved to be a time-saver as it frees users from searching library stacks to find an article in a print journal.

The following options are available for students who want to use the service:

• If a student finds a journal through the Libraries’ search engine, LionSearch, or through a library database, and there is no access to full text online, the article can be requested by following the system prompts.

• Articles can also be requested directly in ILLiad and more information is there as well. Select the “Article/Book Chapter” request form and students will need to create an ILLiad profile.

Articles will be posted in the user’s ILLiad account within two to three days.

Note that this is not a rush service and if an article is needed immediately, going directly to the stacks for the print journal is still the quickest route. Book chapters or copies from microfiche are not included in this service. For more information about this service, contact Barbara Coopey at bmc4@psu.edu or 814-863-1367.
