Engineering students to offer lawnmower checkup fundraiser

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) will hold its annual Lawnmower Clinic on April 4 and 5.

Each year, the Penn State ASABE student club holds this fundraising event that lets homeowners have their push-type lawn mowers checked and prepped for the coming summer.

Cost of the service is $35 for mowers dropped off at the Agricultural Engineering Building or $50 for pickup and delivery.

As part of the service, the engineering students will:

-- Start the mower before servicing;

-- Clean under the deck;

-- Sharpen and balance the blade;

-- Secure the blade;

-- Clean the air filter;

-- Check, clean and gap the spark plug;

-- Change the oil;

-- Wash the mower; and

-- Start the mower after servicing.
