Penn State lacrosse to air on Big Ten Network

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- For the second straight year the Penn State lacrosse programs will have live broadcasts on the Big Ten Network and BTN2Go as announced Wednesday morning. The Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team hosts Villanova on Saturday, March 29 for a live broadcast at 2 p.m., while the women's team will have its Friday, Apr. 18 tilt against Johns Hopkins aired live at 6 p.m.

For the men's lacrosse team, the contest against Villanova will be Penn State's Alumni Reunion Weekend game in Happy Valley. The Penn State-Villanova game will be the first televised game of the season and the fourth national broadcast of the Nittany Lions in the past two seasons. Last year, BTN aired Penn State's 10-8 Senior Day win over CAA rival Towson.

On the women's side, the American Lacrosse Conference matchup between Penn State and Johns Hopkins will be shown live under the Friday night lights Apr. 18. It will be the second-straight meeting between the two squads that will receive the national television treatment following Penn State's 15-14 win at JHU last season that aired on ESPNU.

The BTN broadcasts of Penn State lacrosse come a year ahead of the Big Ten's sponsorship of men's and women's lacrosse, which is set to begin next year. With the inclusion of Maryland and Rutgers, who begin their membership July 1, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan comprise five of the six Big Ten lacrosse-playing schools. Johns Hopkins joins the fray on the men's side as an affiliate member, while Northwestern represents the sixth women's program.

The Big Ten Network is available in more than 90 million homes in all 50 United States and Canada.
