Green Day's 'American Idiot' coming to The Pullo Center on Feb. 25

“American Idiot,” the Broadway musical based on the rock group Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning album of the same name, is set to take the stage at Penn State York’s Pullo Family Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25. Tickets are on sale for $60, and can be purchased at The Pullo Center Box Office, charged by phone at 717-505-8900 or at Penn State York students may purchase one ticket at the box office for the special price of $30.

The two-time Tony Award-winning musical, a smash on Broadway and in London, tells the story of three lifelong friends, forced to choose between their dreams and the safety of suburbia. Their quest for true meaning in a post Sept. 11 world leads them on an exhilarating theatrical journey.

Featuring the hits “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “21 Guns,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” “Holiday” and the blockbuster title track, “American Idiot,” includes the music of Green Day and the lyrics of its lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong. The show is directed by Tony Award-winner Michael Mayer (“Spring Awakening”) and choreographed by Olivier Award-winner Steven Hoggett (“Once”). Music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements are by Pulitzer Prize-winner Tom Kitt (“Next to Normal”). Set design is by Tony Award-winner Christine Jones with light design by Tony Award-winner Kevin Adams.

Charles Isherwood of The New York Times called the show thrilling, emotionally charged and as moving as any Broadway musical he has ever seen.
