Health and wellness director to speak at D.C. conference

Joy Himmel, director of health and wellness at Penn State Altoona, will speak at the American Psychological Association conference in Washington, D.C., this August. She will present "Building a Comprehensive, Sustainable Campus Suicide Prevention Program Using a Public Health Approach: A Framework for Success" along with Dolores Cimini from University of Albany; Wendy Winger from Ohio State University; Rosalyn Blogier from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration; Victor Schwartz, medical director for the Jed Foundation; and Kerri Smith from the Suicide Prevention Resource Center.

Himmel presented this workshop at the National Association of Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, Mental Health and Alcohol, and other Drug and Violence Prevention conference in January in San Diego, and she will also present it at the American College Health Association meeting in May.
