Applicants sought for 2014 student orientation program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Office for Student Orientation and Transition Programs is looking for dedicated, enthusiastic, resourceful and motivated students to join its 2014 Orientation Team (OTeam). Members of the OTeam will serve as group facilitators, resource persons, role models and ambassadors for Penn State. Qualified applicants will exemplify strong leadership skills, be active in academic and co-curricular activities, have the ability to work comfortably with diverse populations, demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skill and represent Penn State with pride.

The OTeam will staff two-day, overnight orientation sessions from May through August. As representatives of Penn State University, their work will focus on providing a quality transitional experience for all incoming first-year students. The team members facilitate this transition into college by providing an introduction to the campus, and its resources and leading conversations about the transition from high school to college. Team members must be able to be flexible while working in a demanding, fast-paced environment and are expected to actively engage with students and families while providing a welcoming environment to make each New Student Orientation program a success.

Information sessions for prospective orientation team members will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in 327 HUB-Robeson Center and at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28 in 325 HUB. Applicants will be contacted for an individual interview beginning on Sunday, Nov. 10. Individual interviews will be held between Nov. 11 and 22. A second round group interview will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. Individuals will be invited to participate in the group interview based on their performance in the individual interview. Invitations to the group interview will be extended beginning Monday, Dec. 2.
