ASES students organize State College Solar Tour for Oct. 6

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) is sponsoring its fourth annual State College Solar Tour from 1 to 4 p.m. on Oct. 6.

The tours begin at 1 p.m. at the MorningStar Solar Home, part the Sustainability Experience Center, which is located on Porter Road near Beaver Stadium on the University Park campus. Information on all the stops on the tour is available at www.clubs.psu.edu/up/ases/.

The event, free and open to the public, is part of the ASES's 18th annual National Solar Tour, which aims to demonstrate the benefits of solar technology.

Participants will learn about MorningStar, a net-zero solar home currently used in sustainable housing education efforts through research and outreach activities. The tour will also include residential buildings and businesses.

Each stop on the tour will feature a unique story and energy-saving tips.

Last year, 90,000 people in 38 states participated in 578 registered solar tours.

Established in 1954, the ASES is the nation's leading association of solar professionals and advocates. Its mission is to inspire an era of energy innovation and speed the transition to a sustainable energy economy.
