Patti Smith to perform Oct. 15

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Singer-songwriter Patti Smith will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 at Eisenhower Auditorium and will also be honored with the Penn State Institute for the Arts and Humanities' 2013 Medal for Distinguished Achievement.

Smith's studio albums include "Horses" (1975), "Radio Ethiopia" (1976), "Easter" (1978), which contains the single "Because the Night," and, most recently, "Banga" (2012). Her life and work form the subject of the 2008 documentary film "Patti Smith: Dream of Life." She has received awards such as her inclusion in the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture, an honorary doctorate in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute and a National Book Award for her memoir "Just Kids." In 2007 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
