On Thursday, May 23, the Farmers Market in Hershey will return for its fourth season with plenty of new offerings. In addition to new vendors offering locally produced products, this year the market will offer free weekly children's programming in partnership with local libraries, preventive health programming from Penn State Hershey’s PRO Wellness Center, and cooking demonstrations and recipes for using the fresh market products. The market will again host a free weekly concert series featuring both regional and national bands and musicians for the public from 6 to 8 p.m.
The market offers a variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables, locally produced dairy products, meats, baked goods and many other specialty items. It is located in the field next to the Cocoa Beanery and the Englewood Barn at 1215 Research Blvd. off Bullfrog Valley Road, and is open every Thursday afternoon from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., through the end of October.
Last year, the market was honored with a Spirit of Excellence Award by Modern Healthcare magazine for its effort to promote an overall healthy lifestyle. The market also was voted one of the Top 10 among farmers markets across the country by the American Farmland Trust.
