Greater Allegheny to launch CPA program in May

A series of one-day sessions will be offered this summer as part of the certified public accounting program at Penn State Greater Allegheny. Participants receive continuing educations credits for the eight-hour courses. 

The CPA program is designed for certified public accountants, enrolled tax practitioners and attorneys to broaden their knowledge, relate particular specialties to the field of accounting and to examine developments in the profession.

Sessions will be held May 22, July 11 and Aug. 15. The cost per day is $169, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch and all instructional materials. A discounted rate of $475 for all three sessions is also offered. 

Guest lecturers include Cyril Wecht, former coroner and medical examiner for Allegheny County; Jon Delano, political analyst for KDKA-TV; James C. Roddey, principal at ParenteBeard and former executive of Allegheny County; and Robert J. Tyler Jr., director of finance, Pittsburgh Steelers Sports Inc., amongst others. 

Topics covered will include bankruptcy, forensics, ethics, employee benefits and many more.
