Support Staff Award honors Ripka

 

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Trish Ripka, administrative and finance coordinator in the Office of Human Resources, has been honored with the 2013 Support Staff Award.

The award recognizes the overall high-quality performance of a full-time member of the support staff with at least five years of active service in fulfilling the mission of the University and of his or her college or administrative unit. It also recognizes dedicated focus to customer service, commitment to quality improvement, outstanding skills and abilities, teamwork and professionalism.

Ripka has been part of the Office of Human Resources Center for Workplace Learning team for more than a decade. She is being recognized in particular for her work over the past year. Since the Sandusky scandal became news in November 2011, she has become lead coordinator for the University’s mandated reporter training. She worked with both internal and external groups to coordinate and support the delivery of mandated training to almost 10,000 individuals. “Trish’s ability to organize and multitask played a significant role in the success of this initiative,” one nominator said.

Also during the past 14 months, the former Human Resource Development Center transitioned to the Center for Workplace Learning. Ripka took a leadership role in redefining many processes and procedures, including the implementation of a new registration system.

“Trish has a can-do attitude; it’s part of her professionalism that she demonstrates each and every day,” a nominator wrote. “She has set the bar high for herself and, as a result, she has become a role model for others.”
