Men's tennis moves up in ITA poll

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's tennis team moved up to No. 69 in the latest ITA Poll, released Tuesday. The Nittany Lions were bumped up three spots after splitting last week's matches against No. 21 Texas and Rice. Penn State is now 6-8 this spring.

The Nittany Lions remained in the ITA Rankings for the second straight week after entering the polls for the first time this season.

Penn State is one of nine Big Ten teams ranked in the ITA Top 75. Ohio State is the top ranked team at number nine. Illinois, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Michigan are all ranked in the top 40. Michigan State, Minnesota, and Wisconsin are also ranked.

The Nittany Lions have faced nine ranked opponents so far this spring, including a win over #60 New Mexico 6-1.

Seven of Penn State's ten remaining opponents are currently ranked.

Penn State wrapped up their non-conference schedule this past week against #21 Texas and Rice. The Lions will now focus on their Big Ten opponents the rest of the way.

Penn State is off this weekend, but will return to action with home matches against Indiana at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, March 22, and Purdue at noon ET on Sunday, March 24.
