Presentation offers advice on preserving family heirlooms

The public is invited to learn how to correctly care for and preserve precious family heirlooms and mementos from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in Foster Auditorium, 101 Pattee Library on the University Park campus. "What's in Your Attic," a free event by Sue Kellerman, the Judith O. Sieg chair for preservation and head, Digitization and Preservation Department, will include methods for preserving, handling, and storing paper documents, books, photographs, and newspapers.

While in the Libraries, visitors are urged to see “The Lion’s Roar: Penn State Spirit,” an exhibit featuring historical photographs of Penn State’s revered mascot, the Nittany Lion, on display in the main exhibit hall of Pattee Library, through Dec. 30.

Copies of the Lion's Roar Commemorative Bookmarks 2008 also will be available at all library locations before each home football game. Gifts of support to the Libraries will be acknowledged with the full, uncut sheet of the Lion's Roar Collector's Bookmark Series 2008.

For more information, call (814) 865-2258.

The exhibit is open to the public during library operating hours. Call (814) 865-3063 for a listing of general hours.
