Trash to Treasure donations accepted starting April 27

University Park, Pa. -- While packing for spring break, students may find items in their rooms that they no longer want. Rather then cram them in the car to take home or throw them away, students are encouraged to set them aside and make a donation to this semester’s Trash to Treasure sale.

Donation bins will be set up in the residence halls from April 27 to May 9, and any student who lives on campus is encouraged to donate unwanted items like furniture, clothes, bedding, and electronics. More details about where to drop off donations will be posted in the residence halls in the coming weeks.

Each year, Penn State student donations have kept over 60 tons of usable goods out of the landfill. The over $40,000 raised each year benefits the Centre County United Way.

The Trash to Treasure sale will be held at Beaver Stadium on May 30. Volunteers will be needed to help prepare for the sale and to assist on sale day.
