Law School announces new staff appointments

Ellen Foreman has joined the University to direct the Marketing and Communications Office for Penn State Law and the School of International Affairs and Jay Shively has joined Penn State Law as assistant dean for Admissions and Financial Aid.

Foreman most recently served as director of brand management, marketing and communications for ICMA, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing ethical and professionally managed local government. Foreman is a former director of integrated communications and director of global brand management, personal communications sector for Motorola Corporation. She is a former director of brand management and director of communications for Black & Decker Corporation. Foreman holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Duquesne University.

For the past five years Shively has been director of Law School Support Services for the Law School Admissions Council (LSAC), where he served on the LSAC senior management team and was responsible for LSAC services to all 200 North American law schools. Prior to joining LSAC, Shively was assistant dean for Admissions at the University of North Carolina School of Law. Shively holds a law degree from the University of Houston Law Center and a bachelor of arts degree from Florida State.

“Jay Shively and Ellen Foreman are two of the top professionals in their respective fields. We are very fortunate they have joined the Law School and School of International Affairs,” said Philip J. McConnaughay, dean of the Law School.
