Penn State Behrend to offer Oracle ERP courses

Continuing Education at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, will offer workforce development courses utilizing Oracle Corporation's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. An ERP system coordinates an organization's information -- manufacturing, financial, human resources, supply chain management and more -- in a single database.

The available Oracle ERP courses are as follows; cost includes course materials and fees.

  • -- Essentials for Implementers: Feb. 3-4, in Hammermill Building, room 139, $450
  • -- Inventory Management Fundamentals: Feb. 10-11 and 17-18, in Hammermill Building, room 139, $650
  • -- Purchasing Fundamentals: Feb. 24-25 and March 3-4, in Hammermill Building, room 139, $650
  • -- Order Management Fundamentals: March 17-18 and 24-25, in Lilley Library, room 107, $650

"The Oracle training provided by Penn State Behrend is both unique and relevant to the marketplace," said William Tauber of Paradigm Infotech Inc., who completed ERP classes in 2009. "We were able to utilize the skills we acquired immediately in global implementation projects. The class is supplemented by real world examples and class problems are solved as a collaborative team effort." Paradigm Infotech is a global IT solutions provider that routinely delivers IT services to Fortune 500 companies; its Pennsylvania office is in downtown Erie.

Considered a leader in ERP systems, Penn State Behrend currently offers an SAP ERP certificate through its Sam and Irene Black School of Business. This certification will be expanded to include Oracle. As part of this effort, Oracle, a Fortune 200 company, has granted Penn State Behrend the right to use its ERP educational and training materials in northwestern Pennsylvania.
