Penn State Great Valley to hold 'Negro Baseball Leagues' lecture

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Black History Month, a lecture by the maker of the film "The Negro Baseball Leagues" is being presented by Penn State Great Valley’s Diversity Action Council and AMETEK Foundation Inc. It will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 9., in Musser Auditorium at the Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley in Malvern, Pa.

Filmmaker, author and performer Byron Motley brings to life an era in history that many believe was the start of the Civil Rights movement in the United States. Through insightful, moving and educational dialogue, Motley tells the story of the men and women who simply wanted to play baseball but were ostracized because of the color of their skin. This event is open to the public. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Register at http://www.sgps.psu.edu/negrobaseballleagues by Feb. 5. For more information, call 610-725-5298.
