University Police to conduct emergency training May 11-13

University Park, Pa. — As part of its efforts for preparedness in a wide range of potential campus security issues, Penn State's University Police will be conducting an emergency response exercise from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday (May 11) through Thursday (May 13) in and around the Business Building on the University Park campus.

Members of the community should not be alarmed by the police activity and simulated security exercises in the area. The effort is being filmed by Penn State Public Broadcasting for future training purposes.

"The State College and University Park communities are generally very safe, and we hope that the situations we train for may never happen," said Steve Shelow, director of University Police. "At the same time, our team of highly skilled police and emergency responders receive significant training throughout the year to keep our community safe and to be prepared for any situation that could arise."
