Corporate Scrabble Tournament, set for Oct. 21, is open to the public

A Corporate Scrabble Tournament will be held by Adult Literacy Action (ALA) of Penn State Beaver at noon Thursday, Oct. 21, in the center area of the Beaver Valley Mall, Monaca, Pa. The tournament is open to the public and proceeds benefit ALA.

Individuals and teams are welcome to participate, and no previous Scrabble experience is needed. Participants will include local businesses, schools, government agencies, and human service organizations. The registration donation is $100 for an individual or $250 for a team of three.

For more than 30 years, ALA has provided Beaver County with a variety of literacy services, including tutoring in reading, writing, and math as well as GED preparation, distance learning, family literacy, and English for Speakers of Other Languages. During the past year, more than 900 area residents have received services through ALA.
