Professor and former doctoral student receive Article of Year Award

John O’Neill, associate professor of hospitality management and his former doctoral student Qu Xiao, assistant professor at the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, recently received the 2010 Article of the Year Award from the Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Management. The article is titled “Work-family balance as a potential strategic advantage: A hotel general manager perspective.”

"Through our in-person interviews with 49 hotel general managers across the country, including School of Hospitality Management alumni, Gary Budge, Jim Purdum, and Eric Rosenbaum, we discovered that hotel GMs can use work-family balance to establish competitive advantage for their hotels," said O’Neill.
