Nov. 12: YPC Erie hosts Honor Chorus Festival, evening concert

The Young People's Chorus of Erie's annual Honor Chorus Festival will end with a public concert at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

The day-long vocal workshop for young singers and their teachers takes place on Saturday, Nov. 12. The 7:30 p.m. culminating concert will be held in the campus' McGarvey Commons, located on the first floor of the Reed Union Building.

Over 150 participants are expected at the festival. Four choirs, including a massed choir of all participants, will perform at the concert; the program also will feature a short performance by the Penn State Behrend Concert Choir and Chamber Singers and the Erie Philharmonic Chorus.

The Young People’s Chorus of Erie is northwestern Pennsylvania’s youth and children’s chorus organization. An outreach organization in residence in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend, it is the first affiliate of the famed Young People’s Chorus of New York City. The choruses perform under the direction of Jason Bishop, director of choral activities and founder and artistic director of YPC Erie.

General admission tickets to the Honor Chorus Festival concert are $5 per person and will be available at the door.
