Libraries improved service benefits World Campus students and others

The University Libraries have decreased the maintenance window needed for Internet resources, including The CAT, the online catalog, from two hours to less than five minutes daily. The new process, developed jointly by the Libraries' Department of Information Technology and Information Technology Services' Digital Library Technologies, takes only three to four minutes daily and occurs around 4 a.m. EST. Chris Holobar, manager of Lending and Course Reserves, said, ""This is a tremendous improvement in service to our World Campus students, particularly those in the military and stationed overseas, trying to access electronic reserve materials, and, of course, to our students and staff working overnight."
