Half marathon proceeds donated to the Children's Hospital

On Thursday, May 10, Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) presented Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital with the net proceeds from the 2011 Hershey Half Marathon, totaling $135,000.

This donation highlighted one of the ways in which HE&R supports Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Through registration fees and sponsorships, all net proceeds raised at this event benefit this great organization.

Craig Hillemeier, medical director of Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and chair, Department of Pediatrics, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine, said “Because of HE&R’s support through the Hershey Half Marathon, hundreds of thousands of people not just in central Pennsylvania but throughout the country who participated in the race knew that miracles happen at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. The awareness and money raised to support Children's Miracle Network is tremendous, and our partnership with you is invaluable.”

“By supporting Children's Miracle Network, HE&R is able to help purchase state-of –art equipment and fund new knowledge for researchers trying to heal our children for today and tomorrow, ” said Bill Simpson, president and COO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts.

The third annual Hershey Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, Oct. 21. Registration for the event is now open at www.Active.com. All net proceeds from the race will once again benefit Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
