Sept. 25 Architectural Engineering Career Fair features 119 companies

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — One hundred and nineteen companies will attend the annual Architectural Engineering Career Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus of Penn State.

The event is the largest architectural engineering career fair in the United States, and one of the largest single department career fairs at the University.

Last year more than 500 college students attended the Architectural Engienering Career Fair. In addition to Penn State architectural engineering students, students from other College of Engineering disciplines, the Department of Architecture, as well as North Carolina A&T State University will attend.

"The AE Career Fair was created to bring together companies interested in recruiting students specializing in all aspects of the design and construction of buildings," said M. Kevin Parfitt, associate professor of architectural engineering and director of the AE Senior Thesis Program. "The continued demand among AE industry firms that want to be a part of the career fair resulted in the need to hold the event in the Bryce Jordan Center again this year," Parfitt said.

Companies at the career fair will be recruiting students for entry-level permanent positions, as well as co-op openings and summer employment. Traditionally, the career fair is the source of current and future employment contacts for most AE students.

Many of the largest and best known AE, consulting engineering, contractor, facilities, building product manufacturers and construction management firms in the building industry will attend. In addition to 25 sponsors, and 32 corporate partners, the career fair has two industry leaders — Skanska USA and Southland Industries — this year.
