Shenango announces Christmas comedy production

What happens when Charles Dickens’ "A Christmas Carol" is told through the words of Dr. Seuss? You get Penn State Shenango Drama Club’s whacky and wonderful production of Peter Bloedel’s "A Seussified Christmas Carol," which will be produced for the holiday season at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 8, and at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 9, in the Penn State Shenango Auditorium in downtown Sharon, Pa.

"A Seussified Christmas Carol" is a memorable experience for the whole family. The production includes Scrooge, of course, and Tiny Tim, but in the whimsical Seussified telling, Scrooge likes to be known as “The Scrooge” and Tiny Tim becomes “Little Timmy Loo Hoo.” The Ghosts of Christmas are back, but they also have a decidedly zany treatment. The characters are fun, and they come and go quickly in this fast-paced telling of the classic tale directed by Jeanne Zingale, theatre instructor at Penn State Shenango. The large cast of student actors is joined by a cadre of puppet actors as well.

The Penn State Shenango Drama Club also is supporting the Community Food Warehouse. Patrons bringing a nonperishable item for this important source of food for so many in our community will receive $1 off the price of any admission: $8 for adults, $6 for students and senior citizens, $4 for children under age 12.

As an added feature to the festivities, the Drama Club will be offering a basket raffle with many items that would make excellent holiday gifts. The Drama Club encourages patrons to grab their red-and-white striped hats and circle the dates for Penn State Shenango Drama Club’s holiday production of "A Seussified Christmas Carol."
