Two art exhibitions to kick off the new semester

Two new artist exhibitions will be on display from Jan. 10 to March 3, in the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at Penn State Altoona. A reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 10, in the Titelman Study of the Misciagna Center.

The works of Matthew Boonstra can be seen in the Sheetz Gallery, while those of Emily White will be in the McLanahan Gallery.

Boonstra received his bachelor of fine arts (BFA) from Eastern Michigan University and master of fine arts from Michigan State University. His work is often an investigation into how socioeconomic circumstances impact our natural environment.

White received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston with a focus in sculpture. Much of her work focuses on wildlife and their natural habitat.

The galleries are open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and before and during all performances. For further information, call the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts at 814-949-5452 or visit the Penn State Altoona website at
