The five MOOCs offered by Penn State since it launched its partnership with Coursera earlier this year have attracted more than 300,000 enrollments so far.
A map created in the Penn State MOOC Maps and the Geospatial Revolution shows enrollments around the world based on self-reported data from students who pinned themselves on a web map. This map was made with about 22,000 pins; more than 48,000 students registered for the course.
Penn State's first MOOC, Introduction to Art: Concepts & Techniques, taught by Anna Divinsky, attracted more than 75,000 students who created some 14,300 original works of art.
Geography professor Anthony Robinson said he was blown away by the level of engagement in his MOOC, Maps and the Geospatial Revolution, which attracted more than 48,000 students.
