Hundreds of such high school students will converge on University Park on each Monday, Wednesday and Friday through Aug. 7 to take part in the daylong program, aimed at helping families gain information useful in making college application decisions.

Spend a Summer Day, designed to provide information for prospective Penn State undergraduate applicants, is a yearly event held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the weeks of July 27 and Aug. 2. Each day features sessions facilitated by students, faculty and staff from each college on campus, allowing high school students and their families a chance to ask questions and learn more about Penn State.

The Nittany Lion mascot braved significant rainfall in Happy Valley on Wednesday, July 29, to make a surprise appearance on campus, seen here near the HUB-Robeson Center, in order to greet prospective student applicants and their families during Spend a Summer Day on Wednesday, July 29. The day of programs was one of six such sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of the weeks of July 26 and Aug. 2 at University Park, all of which were available to any high school student interested in applying to or attending Penn State. Representatives from every college on campus were on hand during the day-long events to provide information, lead facilities and campus tours, and answer questions.

In addition to college- and major-specific sessions, University Park's Spend A Summer Day program featured informal information sessions with a student panel made up of Penn State students from various degree programs. This session, one of two on Wednesday, July 29, took place in the auditorium of the HUB-Robeson Center.
