International team develops predictive tool to help mitigate COVID-19 in Africa

An international team led by Penn State developed a surveillance modeling tool to make weekly predictions of new COVID-19 cases in countries across Africa. Developed in collaboration with Uganda’s National Planning Authority, the country’s senior organization for development and economic planning, the tool uses openly available data to provide a projection of cases, as well as lower and upper ranges, to help the country decide if mitigation policies need to be implemented or modified.
