UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Brian Alfred, Penn State assistant professor of art and founder/host of the podcast “Sound & Vision,” recently launched a new podcast, “Brave New World,” to give people from a variety of creative disciplines — ranging from the visual and performing arts to design and fashion — an opportunity to share how they are adapting during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Recent and upcoming guests include Broadway actress Mandy Gonzalez, who portrays Angelica Schuyler in "Hamilton"; soccer freestyler Frankie “Flo” Gonzalez; internationally renowned illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme; and animator Paul Watling, whose credits include "Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse," which won an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.

“I’m hoping it creates a community of voices that will help people feel a sense of shared experience in this difficult new environment we are all in,” said Alfred, who recently celebrated the 200th episode of “Sound & Vision.”

Alfred has shown his work internationally for the past 20 years and has pieces in the Guggenheim Museum and Whitney Museum of American Art, among others.
