Weiss to discuss genetic uniqueness and evolution

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Kenneth Weiss, Evan Pugh professor emeritus of anthropology and genetics, will present “The Evolution of our GENE-eration” at 7 p.m. on May 16 at Liberty Craft House, 346 E. College Ave., in State College.

The event is part of the monthly Science on Tap series, which is designed to bring the local and campus community together to discuss the importance and impact of science policy. Science on Tap is sponsored by the Penn State Science Policy Society.

Weiss will discuss people’s genetic uniqueness, the genetic causes behind the diversity of life and its implications in people’s lives. The retired faculty member will also talk about understanding evolution in its simplest form and what it means for the use of genetics in solving health problems.

The Science on Tap series occurs every third Tuesday of the month. Science on Tap is free, but attendees must be age 21 or over and have proper identification.
