In October, Girls Night Out Altoona raised $26,764 for breast cancer research at Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc. is an annual fundraising dinner that brings together breast cancer survivors, family, friends and supporters at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona.

The funds will support the research of Craig Meyers, distinguished professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, and his work with the AAV2 virus. Meyers has been investigating the effects of the AAV2 virus on various forms of breast cancer and spoke at Girls Night Out Altoona again this past year to thank attendees for their support in his work.

Girls Night Out Altoona, Inc.’s fundraising efforts over the past seven years have given more than $140,000 to Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute.
