UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Big Ten Women's Gymnastics Freshman of the Week award has settled into Happy Valley for the third time in 2015, as Penn State freshman Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) earned her third honor of the season after winning the all-around last Saturday vs. Michigan State.

Tsang had a consistent weekend outing vs. the Spartans, as she logged a score of 9.850 or better on all four events. She finished no lower than fourth in the ranking on any of the four events and tied for the balance beam title with teammate Nicole Medvitz (Paramus, N.J.) with a score of 9.875. Tsang has claimed seven individual event titles and three all-around crowns already this season.

Over her first five meets, Tsang has won at least a share of an event title in each of the competitions. She claimed the vault and balance beam vs. Cornell, New Hampshire and Rutgers to open the season, tied for the uneven bars title at No. 8 Nebraska and topped the balance beam and floor exercise charts against Maryland. A share of the vault title came about at No. 14 Illinois and her tie atop the balance beam charts highlighted her performances vs. the Spartans.

The rookie also earned Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week honor after the Nittany Lions season-opening quad-meet victory against Cornell, New Hampshire and Rutgers. In the season-opener, Tsang won the vault title and tied for the balance beam title, and also claimed the all-around with a score of 39.225.

Of the 16 multi-time winners, four haul from Penn State; Sharaya Musser (3, 2010), Samantha Musto (2, 2013), Emma Sibson (2, 2014) and Tsang.

Overall, Penn State ranks second in Big Ten history with 11 Freshman of the Week awards won since 2010. Michigan is first with 15, while Nebraska and Minnesota each have nine.
