Applicants sought for student tour organizations Lion Scouts, SMART

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Undergraduate Admissions is now accepting applications for Lion Scouts and the Student Minority Advisory and Recruitment Team (SMART), two student organizations that conduct campus tours and other activities for prospective students.

In addition to giving tours, Lion Scouts conduct online chats with prospective students and visit their high schools to talk about their Penn State experience. SMART members participate in bus trips and other activities that showcase Penn State’s diversity to high school students and their families.

Both organizations are also active in THON, Homecoming and other Penn State activities.

Lion Scout applications are available at, and SMART applications are available at Applications for both organizations are due at 5 p.m. Sept. 19 in 101 Shields.

Information sessions for Lion Scouts will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in 102 Thomas and at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 17 in 207 Shields.

An information session for SMART will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in 160 Willard. The group will also have an information table in the HUB-Robeson Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16.
