UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Libraries are more than just books, and as information specialists, today’s librarians use a variety of resources, including the latest technologies, to inspire learning. A career in library and information science offers fulfilling work in selected fields of study; opportunities to work with people in the academic, business or public realm; research and teaching opportunities; and technological alternatives and work with the World Wide Web.

If this description piques your interest and you are an undergraduate student at Penn State, who is interested in a master’s degree in library science, consider applying for one of the University Libraries’ scholarships to help with current school costs.

The awards include the Adma Hammam Shibley Memorial Scholarship in Library Science, the Martha Conner Memorial Award and the Ava Faltz-Miller Memorial Scholarship. They are presented annually to outstanding Penn State undergraduates.

The deadline for submission of the scholarship application is Friday, May 2. Details about each, and the award and application form are available online. For more information, contact Sandy Confer at 814-863-3665 or
