Faculty Member Shares Research at Hong Kong Conference

August 28, 2002

Eugene Boman, associate professor of mathematics at Penn State DuBois, was among the invited presenters at the International Conference on Structured Matrices held May 29 to June 1 in Hong Kong. The event was co-sponsored by the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong. Few researchers specialize in matrices, and those influential in the field were invited to speak at the conference. Boman was among a select group of presenters from Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, Singapore and the United States. Structured matrices occur in many disciplines in applied mathematics and engineering. Researchers use them to replicate physical structures so they can approximate the solution to a problem they are attempting to solve. For the full story, visit
