Female high school students studying science at Penn State Altoona

May 09, 2003

Twenty-eight female seventh and eighth grade students from seven local school districts will participate in a unique career development opportunity at Penn State Altoona on Thursday, May 15, as they learn about the fields of science and engineering. The hands-on workshops encourage girls to begin thinking about non-traditional career paths for women, develop leadership, team-building and communication skills, consider math, science, and technical skills required to succeed in the world of work, and encourage the girls to think creatively and set goals for their future. Girls who are participating in the program have been nominated by science and math teachers from their respective schools.
