Luncheon brings together legislators, faculty and friends

November 24, 2003

Penn State Beaver's annual Fall Legislators Luncheon was held last Friday, drawing more than 40 area legislators, legislative representatives, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and various campus advisory board members. Hosted by Gary Keefer, Beaver campus executive officer, and The Honorable Michael R. Veon (D), District 14 representative, the luncheon provided an opportunity for the group to talk informally in groups over lunch, which was followed by an open and informal question and answer session facilitated by Veon. The Honorable Vince Biancucci (D), District 15 representative, also attended. Legislative aides represented Congresswoman Melissa Hart (R), 4th congressional district; Senator Gerald LaValle (D) District 47 representative, and Senator John R. Pippy (R), senate district 37. Issues regarding the current economy and budget situations in Pennsylvania, their effect on higher education, and the current decrease in state funding for Penn State were discussed.
