Shenango to host "Sisters and Voices" as part of African American History Month

January 26, 2004

The Penn State Theatre will rock as the campus celebrates African American history with the highly entertaining performance and multimedia presentation, "Sisters and Voices" on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7 pm. The program looks at the triumphs and tragedies of extraordinary black divas in music, including Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, Marian Anderson, and Chaka Khan. The presentation features a group of talented performers who deliver the heart warming gospel songs of Mahalia Jackson, the "down home" blues of Bessie Smith, and a classic dedication to Billie Holiday and the female legends of jazz. This free event is part of the campus' 2004 Cultural Event Series.
