Heard on Campus: Los Angeles Times columnist Steve Lopez

March 31, 2006

"In this landscape, where you want to distinguish yourself, you have to ask yourself why you are doing this and what you want to accomplish. And then, just report the hell out of whatever it is you are working on, so that you can write it with authority and distinction."

--Steve Lopez, Los Angeles Times columnist and novelist, speaking this week during the closing session of the Foster Conference of Distinguished Writers, a twice-a-year conference hosted by Penn State's College of Communication that regularly attracts some of the country's finest writers. On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated baseball writer and Penn State graduate Tom Verducci spoke as part of the conference. For more on his lecture, visit http://live.psu.edu/story/16961
