College holds numerous summer camps

July 17, 2007

The first of numerous camps for high school students conducted within the College of Communications ended a few days ago, but its conclusion only marks the beginning of abundant activity on campus this summer. The annual Muticultural High School Journalism Workshop ended July 6, highlighted by the students producing their own newspaper full of timely stories. That camp was coordinated by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Other sessions, scheduled throughout July, focus on broadcast journalism, filmmaking and sports journalism. The sessions rank as some of the most popular summer camps at Penn State, attracting so much interest that the filmmaking sessions have doubled in the past few years and enrollment in the broadcast journalism sessions was twice what was expected this summer.
