Alumni Society golf outing draws record number of players

The Penn State Beaver Alumni Society eighth annual Golf Outing drew a record number of 112 golfers on Monday, Sept. 8, at Seven Oaks Country Club, Brighton Township. Participants came from local and regional communities as well as out of state.

The Beaver County Times foursome won first place, followed by the Morrow Team in second place and LaQuantra Bonci Associates in third.

The annual fundraising event was coordinated by the Alumni Society Golf Outing Committee. Proceeds benefit Penn State Beaver students and projects. The committee was comprised of Penn State Beaver director of development Diana Patterson; Christina Winniewicz, external relations assistant; chair Norman J. Kraus, Jr. '77; Jeffrey Bauman '92; John Hertneky '79; Tom Jurkowski '75; Joseph N. Trgovac '80; and Donald Veri '72. The daylong event included a Nittany auction, silent auction, live auction, skill prizes and awards for the three winning foursomes. A continental breakfast, lunch and dinner were served.

The Alumni Society's previous golf outings have netted more than $75,000 for the campus. Final proceeds from this year's event will be announced next week.

The Alumni Society's Ninth Annual Golf Outing will be held Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Seven Oaks Country Club. Event organizers are registering players and seeking sponsors. If interested in obtaining information about next year's golf outing, contact Winniewicz at or (724) 773-3817.
