Trumpbour to speak on sports and stadiums

Altoona, Pa. -- The Penn State Altoona Teaching and Learning Consortium presents the next in its series of "Free University" lectures at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb.13  in the Devorris Downtown Center. Assistant Professor Bob Trumpbour will present "Stadium History: Politics, Media, and the Economic Realities of Sports-Related Construction."

Trumpbour is the author of “The New Cathedrals: Politics and Media in the History of Stadium Construction” (2007, Syracuse University Press), and was recently invited to serve as a guest editor for “The International Journal of the History of Sport” for a special issue in September 2008 that focused on stadium building in North America. He has been featured in a number of publications and has been interviewed both nationally and locally on the subject of stadium construction and the role of the public and the media in the stadium construction process.
