Koubek named new engineering dean at LSU

Richard Koubek, the Peter & Angela Dal Pezzo Department Head Chair of The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, has been named dean of engineering at Louisiana State University.

Koubek will begin his appointment at Louisiana State on June 1.

Since becoming department head in 2001, Koubek has worked effectively with the University faculty, staff, students and alumni to strengthen the department's programs and research while also expanding its international reputation.

Before coming to Penn State, Koubek held teaching, research and leadership positions at Purdue University and Wright State University. He is the recipient of numerous academic and research awards and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Institute of Industrial Engineers, the American Society of Engineering Education, the Human Factors Society and Tau Beta Phi. His research interests include usability, human aspects of manufacturing and human-computer interaction.

Koubek has authored and co-authored numerous journal articles, book chapters and books. He has served in editorial roles and as a referee for scientific journals and industrial engineering publications. In addition, Koubek has served as a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation, NASA and the Office of Naval Research.   

Koubek holds bachelor's degrees from Oral Roberts University and Northeastern Illinois University, and a master's degree and doctorate in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
